Golf tournament to benefit Holiday with a Hero scholarship

Holiday with a Hero is hosting a 4-person scramble golf tournament to raise funds to create a college scholarship for students in need.

“We’ve been helping Carson City’s children receive a merry Christmas for 18 years,” said co-founder and Carson City Sheriff’s Capt. Daniel Gonzales. “The scholarship is a way to help those kids in an even more significant way.”

The Holiday with Hero Golf Tournament begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. May 14 at the Silver Oak Golf Course. Cost is $125 per player and includes range balls, goodie bag and lunch.

Divisions include Men’s, Women’s, Senior Men’s and Mixed. Registration deadline is May 1.

For those wanting to help beyond the tournament, sponsorships are also available. Tier 1 begins at $100 in-kind donations up to Tier 4 with $1,000 in donations.

All net proceeds will benefit the Holiday with a Hero scholarship, which will be awarded to a student who has participated in the annual $100 shopping spree. The organization partners with the Carson City School District’s McKinney-Vento Students-in-Transition program to support students living in motels, cars, campgrounds or doubling up with other families.
